Here at People Powered Change, our role is as facilitators rather than trainers. Successful change happens when the people who’ll be affected by it are fully involved in the process – questioning and exploring the change before it’s accepted.

We’re here to design an effective transition, create a safe space and invite everyone into the conversation. We support people to question and think for themselves during the project.

This is how real change is created.

For each project we work on, we dive into our toolkit of methods and approaches to pick those which are the best fit. We’re not tied to a particular framework, and many projects make use of a mixture of approaches rather than just one.

We’re qualified coaches, Myers Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) and Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) Practitioners and make frequent use of these strategies in our work. We’re also experienced in project management and systems thinking, and have a long-time fascination with people development.

Myers Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI)

We use MBTI to help people understand how they communicate, think and work differently to each other – both in normal circumstances and under stress.

Myers Briggs identifies people as one of 16 types. All types have positive personality traits: it’s not a case of having a good or bad type, but about differences in engaging with the world. It’s used to help aid self-development and build more understanding within teams.

Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP)

NLP is used to help people achieve their goals by understanding behavioural and thought patterns and how these relate to success. It helps people to understand their reactions to external circumstances by analysing how they communicate with themselves, along with how their past experiences, beliefs and thoughts act as a filter for processing information.

Coaching

Coaching provides a safe space where people are free to explore and question their beliefs, behaviours, and the world around them – developing their abilities to achieve goals both in and out of work. The role of the coach is to facilitate this exploration through a combination of observation, active listening and appropriate questioning. Many of our projects make use of our coaching skills through group workshops, where we support people to ask sometimes difficult questions, explore scenarios, question their thinking and ultimately understand each other better as a team.

Coaching

We also make use of our systemic coaching training, helping people create physical representations of the issues they’re facing. This helps with viewing issues from a different perspective, before thinking about what a ‘step towards better’ would look like: breaking down common barriers to progress.

Project Management

Our experience of process improvement is used to support organisations with improving efficiencies and performance, and we use these skills to effectively manage our own client projects.

We’ll manage the whole improvement project with a plan designed for success – and as we move into the ‘implement’ stage, we can work with you to create a rollout and implementation plan too if needed.

Systems Thinking

Systems thinking is a method of evaluating processes to reduce waste and blockages – challenging the organisation to complete a process in the most efficient way possible. It’s based on methods used by Toyota Manufacturing to quickly and efficiently produce vehicles which meet its quality standards without waste. We use it as part of our process improvement projects to inform design principles when we’re thinking about new ways of working.
